For information regarding travel by rail, visit www.amtrak.com or call (800) USA-RAIL. The closest Amtrak station is the new Maricopa Station, located in Maricopa, Arizona. Call (520) 568-2208 for information regarding transportation from Maricopa to Tempe, a 30-mile trip.

Air Travel
Special arrangements have been made with American Airlines to offer ISB4 attendees a discount on air travel, ranging from 10% (with 60-day advance notice) to 5% (with less than 60-day advance notice) off the lowest American Airline applicable fare. The destination airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX). Unfortunately this discount does not apply to international flights on American Airlines.

To make your reservation, call toll free in the United States and Canada 1 (800) 433-1790. Advise the reservation agent that you will be attending ISB4 in Tempe, Arizona, and provide discount code #A0443AA.

Travel from Outside the United States

Attendees from outside the U.S. are encouraged to book early. The destination airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX).

Visa Information for Visitors from VWPP Countries
Visitors from outside the U.S. may require a visa. However, travelers from countries participating in the Visa Waiver Pilot Program (VWPP) do not need a visa to attend the conference. The VWPP allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the U.S. for tourism or business for 90 days or less without a visa.

Participating countries include Andorra, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay.

Certain conditions apply. Please consult with a local travel agency or U.S. consulate for assistance. Be sure to seek policy updates due to new security measures.

Visa Information for Visitors from Non-VWPP Countries

If your country of origin is not a VWPP-participating country, you will need to apply for a visa at your local U.S. consulate. You will require a letter of invitation to the conference, proof of sufficient funds to stay in the U.S. for the duration of the conference, and a roundtrip ticket with a date of return. Please check with your local U.S. consulate for current visa requirements.

ISB staff will provide a letter of invitation to present at the conference after a proposal has been officially accepted. Letters confirming registration will be issued after participants have officially registered.

Ground Transportation to and from Hotels

As noted on the hotel accommodations page, most of the conference hotels provide free transportation service to and from the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. However, if you are staying at a hotel that does not provide such service, we recommend that you use an airport shuttle service, such as SuperShuttle. SuperShuttle operates 24 hours a day on a time scheduled basis. It offers airport-to-door service. Vans depart from the airport at least every 15 minutes to all areas of the Valley from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Fares are charged on a flat rate to each sector of geographic area. Reservations are not needed for group transportation from the airport to the hotel. To reserve a time to be picked up for your return to the airport, call (602) 244-9000 (voice) or (602) 243-7786 (TDD). The SuperShuttle rate between the airport and Tempe-area hotels is approximately $10 (one way) and $20 (round trip).

Taxis are also available. Three taxi companies provide service to and from Sky Harbor Airport (AAA Cab, (602)437-4000; Allstate, (602)329-1017; and Discount Cab, (602)329-1017). One-way taxi fare is approximately $20 from Sky Harbor Airport to Tempe.

Car Rental

Although a rental car should not be necessary, we recognize that some attendees may have special circumstances or plans that may require a rental car. We have therefore made arrangements with AVIS car rental company for a special discount off the lowest published fare.
